Conclusion

There are many software packages to choose from when creating HDR images, but I believe that using Lightroom Classic is the simplest, fastest and most efficient option if you already use Lightroom Classic. Furthermore, the resulting DNG Raw file provides you with a massive amount of editing latitude.

A few of the software packages dedicated to creating HDR images can produce overcooked results. Now, don’t get wrong, many people like the overcooked look, but I don’t. Lightroom Classic creates HDR merges that never have the overcooked look. It is this that gave me the confidence to return to creating HDR images for situations where achieving a balanced exposure would be impossible, or at least very difficult.

If you use Lightroom Classic, I encourage you to try HDR photography.
